Genocide

Genocide is defined under The Genocide Act of Belize of 05 April 1971, which reproduces the definition contained in the Genocide Convention:

  • The Genocide Act of Belize (05 April 1971). (Amendments in force as at 31st December, 2000)

    International Criminal Court

  • Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court: Belize signed the Rome Statute on 05 April 2000 and deposited its instrument of ratification on 05 April 2000

    Upon ratification Belize made the following notification under article 87 (1) and (2) of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court:

      "Pursuant to Article 87 (1) (a) of the Statute of the International Criminal Court, Belize declares that all requests made to it in accordance with Chapter 9 be sent through diplomatic channels."
