    Article V, Section 1(4) of the Constitution of the Republic of the Marshall Islands provides as follows:

      "No treaty or other international agreement which is finally accepted by or on behalf of the Republic on or after the effective date of this Constitution shall, of itself, have the force of law in the Republic."

    Jurisdiction

    Articles 243 to 250 (Part VII) of the Judiciary Act 1983 (2) [27 MIRC Ch 2] of the Republic of the Marshall Islands set out the applicable extraterritoriality rules (see related link under the "Resources and Links" section below).

    International Criminal Court

    Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court: The Republic of the Marshall Islands signed the Rome Statute on 06 September 2000 and deposited its instrument of ratification on 07 December 2000.

    On 18 February 2004 the Republic of the Marshall Islands made the following notification under article 87 (1) and (2) of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court:
      ".....the Permanent Mission of the Republic of the Marshall Islands to the United Nations is the designated channel of communication between the States Parties and the Court and English is the designated language.
