New grain terminal in Trans-Baikal Region 80% ready - Minister

The new grain terminal in Zabaikalsk settlement on the border between Russia and China in the Trans-Baikal Region is 80% completed, Minister for Far East Development Aleksey Chekunkov told TASS in an interview at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

"It [the terminal] is already almost 80% ready. This is an integrated program in broad terms. It comprises the Zabaikalsky grain terminal and a range of grain elevator and logistical infrastructure, which is to enable Siberia and the Far East to fully unlock their agricultural potential, since there is no sense in sowing vast areas or perform soil reclamation without having sales markets in the vicinity," Chekunkov said.
