EMA conducts no activity on Sputnik V vaccine now -- representative

The European Medicines Agency isn't conducting any activity on the review of Russia's Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine, Fergus Sweeney, Head of the Clinical Studies and Manufacturing Taskforce at the agency, said at a news conference on Thursday.

"There's no activity on the rolling review at this stage and none is currently anticipated in the immediate future," he said, when asked if Russia's special operation in Ukraine affected the review.

Sputnik V was approved in Russia on August 11, 2020 and was the world's first officially registered coronavirus vaccine. As of now, the jab is registered in 70 countries whose population totals 4 billion people. The EMA started a rolling review of the Russian vaccine more than a year ago.
