Two suspects of Kremlin's website hack attack detained in Russia

The Federal Security Service (FSB) department for Russia's Kurgan region has tracked down the two suspects who allegedly tried to hack into the Kremlin official website, the organization's press service told TASS on Tuesday.

"For the past year the two Kurgan's residents tried to hack the Kremlin's site," the press service said. "For the first time it was a mentally abnormal person, so no criminal case was opened. But in the second instance, the suspect may be sentenced to up to four years in prison if his guilt is proved."

According to the FSB data, the denial-of-service (DoS) attack aimed on making the network resource unavailable to its intended users was made from a Kurgan IP-address.

The FSB representatives said that the website work was not disturbed by the attack.

"The accused has pledged guilty and helps the investigators. The case data are currently in the court," the press service said.
