Kremlin says DDoS-attack unrelated to events in Ukraine

The President's Administration denied the allegations that today's DDoS-attack on the Kremlin website is linked to the events in Ukraine, a source in the Kremlin told Itar-Tass on Friday.

The source said that "similar spamming mailings occur very often, but with different intensity." "It is wrong to link them to the events in Ukraine," he noted.

"The Kremlin's website is available for anybody, and such situations are understandable," the source added, noting that specialists are currently investigating the origin of the DDoS-attack.

Earlier, the Kremlin's press service has confirmed that the official website of the Russian president became target of a cyber attack. The representatives said that specialists are currently taking all necessary measures to ensure that all users can access the resource.

"Indeed, the case in hand is a major DDoS-attack aimed not only at the Kremlin's site, but also on some other web portals," the press service told Itar-Tass, adding that this is the most powerful attempt to destabilize the resource's operation.

"All measures are taken to fully restore the website's performance," the press service stated. "At present, the website is available for the majority of users."
