Russian antimonopoly service favors settlement deal with Google before trial

---

The Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) is going to resolve the issue with Google about a possible amicable agreement before trial in August, Head of the Service Igor Artemyev told journalists on Friday.

"This is a difficult decision. The court postponed the hearing until August 16. That means we have to come there either with amicable agreement, or we will have to be at suit as far as it will go," he said.

FAS cannot delay this process, Artemyev noted.

The company must recognize a violation of the antimonopoly legislation and fulfill requirements of the Federal Antimonopoly Service. Artemev added that the Agency's goal is to minimize the effects of anticompetitive practices, not the biggest fine for the company.

TASS reported earlier that the Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeal once again adjourned the case between the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) and Google, appointing the meeting on August 16.

The Court has repeatedly postponed the consideration of the case.
