Georgia Concentrates Troops On Border With South Ossetia


Redeployment of Georgian armed troops is being observed near the South Ossetian border, a statement posted on the website of the unrecognized republic's government, has said.

"An artillery column consisted of one battalion of D-30 artillery mounts and two mortar batteries, being a part of the 4th motorized infantry brigade of the Georgian Defence Ministry, started moving from the direction of a military base in Gori to Tskhinvali," the press service of the South Ossetian government said.

The artillery column is reported to be stationed in the Georgian settlement of Eredvi.

"Redeployment of Georgian troops is also being observed at other sections of the Georgian-Ossetian border," the press service reported.
