Istanbul explosions leave 15 dead, 69 wounded — TV channel
The explosions carried out in Istanbul have left 15 dead and 69 wounded, Turkey's A Haber TV channel reported citing Health Minister Recep Akdag who visited the hospitals where the wounded are being treated.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan earlier said in a written statement that the Istanbul attack had left some people dead and wounded. "This night our security forces and civilians have been attacked in Besiktas. The attack carried out right after a football match between Besiktas and Bursaspor, seems to have been aimed to claim as many lives as possible. Unfortunately, we have dead and wounded," the president said.
One blast occurred around 22:30 local time (10:30 pm GMT) by the northwestern wall of the Besiktas Vodafone Arena. According to preliminary reports, a car exploded near a special police unit's bus. The second explosion, which took place in a nearby park, is believed to have been caused by a suicide bomber.
