Japan will send an H-IIA launch vehicle into space early Friday morning as scheduled to send up several satellites, local space officials announced.

Final preparations were completed Thursday afternoon for the twenty-third H-IIA launch at the Tanegashima Space Center in the southwestern Japanese prefecture of Kagoshima. Fueling is expected to start this evening before the lift off scheduled for 3:37 a.m. local time, according to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency ( JAXA).

The rocket will send satellites, including one for Global Precipitation Measurement in collaboration with the U.S., plus seven other types developed by Japanese universities, the agency said.
