Russian government to submit draft law to Duma to ease visa formalities with China

The government has prepared a resolution to submit a draft law to the State Duma, lower house of Russia's parliament, to ratify the Russian-Chinese agreement on easing citizens' trips.

The resolution was placed on the government's website on Friday, January 3.

Russia and China signed the agreement in Moscow on March 22, 2013 "to create more favourable conditions for developing and strengthening contacts between citizens of both countries, primarily of businessmen, scientists, athletes and culture figures", the resolution says.

The agreement envisages introducing visa free formalities for holders of service passports for the term of 30 days in addition to visa free trips for holders of diplomatic passports.

The new document replaces the existing basic agreement between Russia and China on mutual trips for citizens from 2000 and several agreements on citizens' trips.
