Crimea's Sevastopol residents to vote at referendum in Crimea

Residents of the Crimean city of Sevastopol will vote at a referendum in Crimea. Local authorities stated that a plebiscite will become part of an all-Crimea referendum, but upon its results Sevastopol may join Russia as a separate constituent entity.

Polling stations will open at 08:00 local time and will close at 20:00 local time (10:00-22:00 Moscow time). A total of 192 polling stations will work in the city. Sevastopol residents should answer two questions:

1. Do you support Crimea's reunification with the Russian Federation as a constituent entity of the Russian Federation?

2. Do you support reinstatement of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Crimea and Crimea's status as part of Ukraine?

Official referendum results will be announced at a session of the city council in a few days, chairman of Sevastopol city election committee Valery Medvedev told reporters.

Security measures are toughened during the plebiscite in the city. Police and the Sevastopol state service of emergency situations are put on alert. Rescuers and police will be on duty at polling stations. Meanwhile, city self-defence units will keep up order in the city streets. Meanwhile, traffic will be closed for personal vehicles from 05:00 local time on March 16 until March 17 on the Sevastopol central ring road. Meanwhile, public transport will work in routine mode.

Different entertainers, both local and those arriving from Russia, will give concerts on Sevastopol main square, Nakhimov Square, at the referendum. A rally will be held at the square after polling stations closed. Preliminary voting results will be announced at the rally.
