Russia submits elements of future resolution on Ukraine to UN Security Council -- Churkin

Russia has submitted the elements of a future resolution on Ukraine to the United Nations Security Council, Russia's Ambassador to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin told journalists on Friday.

Churkin said the elements contained a demand to the parties of the conflict to end violence. "We have spread the elements which we hope will lay down the foundation for the UN Security Council resolution on Ukraine," the Russian diplomat stressed.

The Russian delegation has asked its Security Council colleagues to react to the proposal by 10am local time (GMT-4) on Monday.

Churkin also expressed concern with the deteriorating situation in eastern Ukraine. President Poroshenko's peace plan turned out to be a smoke screen for building up the military operation in the east of the country, the diplomat noted.
