Problems exposed during Syria operation concern mostly military equipment — Kremlin
The shortcomings that surfaced in the course of the Russian air group's operation in Syria concern mostly the performance of military hardware, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in the wake of a conference on defense matters President Vladimir Putin held on Tuesday.
"Naturally, first and foremost the issue on the agenda is the operation of certain technologies, the performance of equipment," Peskov said, adding that the operation in Syria was being analyzed in order to introduce crucial improvements of the technical means in question.
"I'm unable to go into detail. That's a competence of the Defense Ministry after all," he said, adding that such information was classified.
At Tuesday's meeting with senior military officers and heads of the defense industrial complex enterprises Putin said that the operation in Syria had exposed certain shortcomings and a thorough professional inquiry should follow. Putin said the elimination of the exposed problems would help adjust the guidelines for the development and perfection of military equipment.
