Protesters in Luhansk demand that regional administration disobeys Kiev authorities

Protesters in the eastern Ukrainian city of Luhansk on Monday demanded that the leaders of the regional state administration disobey the new de facto Kiev authorities, local media reported.

Demonstrators also demanded that the regional authorities recognize the people's protest movement and give the demonstrators until April 16 to express their position regarding the demands.

A rally of thousands of people was held in Luhansk on Sunday near the regional department of the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) seized by participants of protests against the new Kiev authorities. Barricades made of car tires were built near the building to prevent a possible storm.

Protests against the new de facto authorities of Ukraine, who were brought to power as a result of a coup in the country in February, have erupted in Ukraine's Russian-speaking eastern territories, namely the Donetsk, Luhansk and Kharkiv regions.
