Kiev administration calculates damage from protesters' seizure

Staff of Kiev's municipal administration got access to the building on Monday.

The protesters seized the building in early December and agreed to leave it only on Sunday in the expectation for the law on amnesty to come into force. The municipal authority's press service refused categorically to answer to Itar-Tass about the incurred damage. However, those who had been inside the building witnessed dirt, junk, broken doors, cut wires, damaged communications and missing property.

An official told Itar-Tass it would not be complicated to identify missing property as a week before the seizure the authority had completed an inventory. Another official spoke about poor conditions of the engineering communications. Reporters asked him how much time could be required to repair those, but the official only waved his hand in response and then added "at least a month if the work is organised well." A high-ranking official said the priority task was "to calculate the damage, to clear the junk and to restore the sanitary state inside.
