No military equipment movement observed on Russian-Ukrainian border -- OSCE report

The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) said in its latest report on Thursday that no military equipment movement is observed at Russian-Ukrainian border checkpoints.

"At the two border checkpoints [Donetsk and Gukovo] the OM [OSCE observer mission] did not observe military movement, apart from vehicles of the Russian Federation border guard service," says OSCE weekly report for January 14 - 21.

On January 19, Kiev claimed that two battalion tactical groups of the Russian armed forces had crossed the Ukrainian border. The Russian Defense Minister strongly dismissed these claims. "The statements by Kiev about a relocation of Russian troops across the Russian-Ukrainian border do not hold water. They are absolute nonsense," Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Major-General Igor Konashenkov said.

In the middle of the day the [Ukrainian] National Defense and Security Council blatantly lied about a Russian troop redeployment to the Luhansk Region, and several hours later "the head of the Ukrainian government, with an expression worthy of a better use on his face, quoted the National Security and Defense Council's claims 'Russian manpower and materiel had been spotted in the Donetsk region'," the official said.
