Russian officials reacted on Western sanctions right and calmly -- Kremlin official

Kremlin's First Deputy Administration Chief Vyacheslav Volodin told journalists on Friday after visiting "The Our Crimea" exhibition that the reaction of all Russian government officials sanctioned by the United States and the European Union had been right and calm. However, imposing penalties is not a friendly move, Volodin told ITAR-TASS. "When we talk about sanctions imposed on separate individuals, the reaction of all those people is absolutely right and calm. Those who serve their country should serve the interests of their country and understand that if the country develops and acts in the right way, someone may not like that. But let that be on their conscience," the Kremlin deputy administration chief said.

Volodin assumed the practice of imposing sanctions could hardly be called a friendly one. "Any unfriendly stance is a manifestation of negative emotions, which are destructive," Volodin went on to say.

"Russia is a friendly country which is developing. Look at all these people and their mood," Volodin said looking at the visitors.

"But those who feel bitter at heart may fall ill and develop various diseases. We can only wish them well because all this may have a bad impact on their health," Volodin went on to say.

The European Union has imposed a travel ban on Volodin but he received that news with a smile. "I think I can travel in Russia. Russia is huge country. Just look how vast it is: Crimea, Irkutsk, Sakhalin and Kaliningrad," Volodin stressed.
