Government forces advance against ISIS in southeast Homs

On Monday afternoon in the Homs Governorate's southeastern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army's 120th Brigade of the 2nd Division - in close coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF), Dara' Qalamoun (Qalamoun Shield), Liwaa Suqour Al-Sahra (Desert Hawks Brigade), and the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) - captured several sites near the strategic city of Quraytayn after a violent battle with the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS).

The Syrian Armed Forces began their day by storming ISIS' primary defenses at the small hilltop of Talaal Al-Rawabi in the Al-Mahsaa Mountains; this attack resulting in the government forces seizing the hilltop after brief battle with the terrorist group in southern Quraytayn.

Following the capture of hills of Talaal Al-Rawbi, the Syrian Arab Army's 120th Brigade and their allies (specifically Liwaa Suqour Al-Sahra) advanced to the Rawabi Al-Taheen Al-Thalath Mountain Range in southern Quraytayn, capturing this site from the ISIS terrorists that were entrenched along the mountaintop.

Not long after seizing Rawabi Al-Taheen Al-Thalath Mountain Range, the Syrian Armed Forces advanced to Tal Kurdi at the Mahsaa-Quraytayn axis, where they were confronted by a large ISIS contingent.

However, the Syrian Armed Forces were able to push through the ISIS defenses and establish control over this small hilltop overlooking Quraytayn's southern district, leaving the aforementioned terrorist group with their backs against the wall.

The ancient Assyrian city of Quraytayn was captured by ISIS in early of August of 2015; it is the gateway to the Tanf border-crossing into the Iraqi province of Al-'Anbar.
