Republican Guard forces enter Al-Muri'iyah Farms in rural Deir Ezzor

One month after being forced to retreat to the walls of the Deir Ezzor Military Airport, the Syrian Arab Army's 104th Airborne Brigade of the Republican Guard and the 137th Artillery Brigade of the 17th Reserve Division have broken through the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham's (ISIS) defenses at Al-Muri'iyah and reentered the village's farm area.

The Republican Guard forces and the 137th Artillery Brigade were able to reenter Al-Muri'iyah Farms after seizing both the Al-'Alam and Al-Walid Farms at the southern perimeter of the Deir Ezzor Military Airport; this successful counter-attack allowed the government forces to build a buffer-zone around its southern gates.

In addition to their advance at the southern perimeter of the Deir Ezzor Military Airport, the Syrian Arab Army's 137th Artillery Brigade were able to clear the strategic hilltop of Tal Kroum and much of Jabal Al-Thardeh to the southwest of the airbase; these aforementioned sites were originally captured by ISIS during late January offensive.

Clashes are currently ongoing between ISIS and the Syrian Armed Forces at Al-Jazeera University and the Furat Al-Sham Hotel in the Al-Baghayliyah District, along with intense firefights at the Al-Haweeqa, Al-Jubeileh, Al-Rashidiyah, Old Airport, and Al-Sina'a districts inside the provincial capital.
