Syrian troops fight ISIS in central Homs

The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (simply ISIS) has captured the Christian city of Qaryatayn in mid-August, 2015.

Syria's Armed Forces made, today Sunday, fresh gains in the southeastern part of the central city of Homs near the Christian towns of Mahin and Qaryatayn.

Forces from Brigade 67 of the 11th Tank Division launched, this morning, a surprise attack against ISIS positions, recapturing two strategic hills, and leaving scores of the jihadis dead and wounded.

Field sources confirmed the one Syrian soldiers was killed, another one injured during the offensive.

The blitz comes amid unclassified reports about the Syrian Army preparing a wide-scale offensive to recapture the ancient city of Palmyra (nearly 160 km to the east of Homs).
