Syrian Army liberates the Thayyem Oil Fields in Deir Ezzor

It took nearly 4 days to do it, but the Syrian Arab Army's 137th Artillery Brigade of the 17th Reserve Division and the National Defense Forces (NDF) have reportedly liberated the strategic Thayyem Oil Fields from the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) terrorists in southwestern Deir Ezzor.

According to a battlefield report from the Deir Ezzor Governorate, the Syrian Arab Army's 137th Brigade and the National Defense Forces were able to impose full control over the Thayyem Oil Fields after a violent battle with the ISIS terrorists entrenched at the southern oil wells on late Saturday night.

The capture of the Thayyem Oil Fields is significant for the Syrian Armed Forces because it gives them a strong presence along the Deir Ezzor-Mayadeen Highway.

Despite the capture of the Thayyem Oil Fields, the Gas Company's Technical Institute is still under ISIS control; however, the Syrian Arab Army's 104th Airborne Brigade of the Republican Guard is reportedly attacking this site tonight.
