Russian Foreign Ministry says dispatch of 15 humanitarian convoys to Syria agreed for June

The Syrian authorities have agreed with the United Nations the dispatch of 15 convoys with humanitarian cargoes to Syrian cities, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Friday.

"In coordination with specialized UN agencies and Russian military representatives, the Syrian authorities keep working to render humanitarian aid to the population, including in areas not controlled by them," Zakharova said.

"The dispatch of 15 UN convoys with humanitarian cargoes has been agreed for the next month," she said. "In particular, on June 1, two convoys of trucks with UN humanitarian aid cargoes were allowed to enter Moadamiya."

"In these conditions, the first session of the second convocation of Syria's People's Council started working in Damascus June 6," Zakharova said. "A new leadership of the legislative body was elected. For the first time in Syria's history, a woman became the chairperson (Hadiya Khalaf Abbas).
