Three humanitarian corridors organized for civilians fleeing Aleppo

The Russian center for reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria in cooperation with the Syrian governmental authorities organized in Aleppo in a humanitarian operation three humanitarian corridors, and four more are to be offered besides, the center's head Lieutenant-General Sergei Chvarkov said on Saturday.

"Right now, for civilians, whom terrorists kept hostage, as well as for militants, who chose to lay arms, we have organized three humanitarian corridors," he said. "In the areas of those humanitarian corridors we have equipped stations with hot food and medical assistance. The Syrian authorities have prepared six centers of humanitarian assistance, which can accommodate and satisfy needs of more than 3,000 people."

Since beginning of the humanitarian operation, the general said, 169 civilians have used the humanitarian corridors, as well as 69 militants, who laid arms. Qualified medical assistance was offered to 59 people, he said. On Friday, from Aleppo's western districts fled 85 civilians, and 29 militants surrendered to the Syrian authorities. On Saturday, from the city's occupied quarters have come 52 civilians and 24 former militants.

"In addition to the existing corridors, we are organizing four more humanitarian corridors," the general said.

Besides, the center for reconciliation has prepared 14 tons of humanitarian cargo by exits from the humanitarian corridors: food, medicine, essentials. As of today, the Russian Air Force have dropped to districts of western Aleppo 2,500 humanitarian-aid sets of food, essentials, and more than 500 people in Aleppo have received more than 1,5 tons of food. Humanitarian convoys continue delivery of assistance, offered by the Russian Federation and other countries demonstrating good will.
