Top ISIS commander in Syria killed inside Aleppo

The prominent Spokesman for the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS), Abu Mohammad Al-'Adnani, was killed in the Aleppo Governorate recently, Al-'Amaq News Agency reported on Tuesday evening.

'Adnani is considered the official Spokesman for the Islamic State and one of Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi's main commanders in the Syrian theater of war.

Born in the Syrian city of Binnish (Idlib Governorate), 'Adnani was an avid follower of Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi, a top Al-Qaeda commander in Iraq.

The ISIS spokesman would serve Al-Qaeda during the 2003 Iraq War and then shift his allegiance to the Islamic State shortly after.

His death comes just days after the Turkish Special Forces led the offensive to liberate the border-city of Jarabulus in northeast Aleppo.
