Kurdish offensive against ISIS in northern Aleppo goes horribly wrong

In the early morning hours on Sunday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), spearheaded by the Kurdish YPG, renewed attacks on the ISIS-controlled villages directly north of Aleppo city.

During the assault on Tall Qarrah, upwards around 30 YPG combatants were shot dead by the entrenched ISIS fighters who were expecting the offensive, Amaq Agency reported.

Making matters worse, two armored Kurdish vehicles, a T-72 tank and a BMP, were also destroyed during the clashes.

Meanwhile, a Turkish-backed rebel offensive is making rapid headway against ISIS along the Turkish-Syrian border.

Moments ago, Syrian rebels, aided by Turkish tanks, captured Bab Laymoun and Haji Wali, leaving their forces only two kilometers from connecting the Azaz pocket with the Jarablus pocket.

Notably, ISIS will lose its last Turkish border territory if this rebel offensive goes to plan.
