Turkey to receive 80,000 refugees from Aleppo - deputy prime minister

Turkey will receive 80,000 refugees from Syria's Aleppo, which has come under the government forces' full control earlier on Tuesday, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister, Mehmet Simsek, has said.

"Turkey, the world's largest refugee hosting country, is to set up a tent city to accommodate up to 80,000 refugees fleeing Aleppo," he wrote on Twitter.

Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN, Vitaly Churkin, said earlier in the day that the hostilities in eastern Aleppo had stopped, and the city is under the control of the Syrian government. The diplomat noted that the militants would leave Aleppo's eastern districts with the next few hours. According to Churkin, all militants along with members of their families and the wounded "are now leaving the city via the agreed corridors moving in the directions chosen by them, including towards Idlib.".
