ISIS launches large-scale offensive near strategic east Aleppo airport

The so-called "Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham" (ISIS) launched a massive offensive in the eastern countryside of the Aleppo Governorate on Wednesday night, targeting the Syrian Arab Army's (SAA) positions north of the strategic Kuweires Military Airport.

ISIS began the offensive by sending a large wave of terrorists towards the village of Nasrallah in the northern countryside of the Kuweires Airport; this resulted in a violent battle that lasted for most of the night.

According to a military source in Aleppo, the Syrian Arab Army was able to repel the first two infiltration attempts; however, the Islamic State is still sending wave-after-wave of combatants towards their defenses in order to overwhelm their forces.

Today's assault by the Islamic State forces is likely being conducted in order to deter the Syrian Arab Army from launching their upcoming offensive in Deir Hafer, which is one of the last strongholds for the terrorist group.
