Syrian Army captures key East Ghouta town after rebel defenses collapse

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continued their East Ghouta offensive on Thursday, targeting Jaysh Al-Islam's (Army of Islam) final positions in the strategic town of Hazrama.

Led by the 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard, the Syrian Arab Army attacked Jaysh Al-Islam's defenses at Hazama's southern flank last night, killing a handful of militants before they abandoned their positions inside the town.

On Thursday morning, the Syrian Arab Army attacked Jaysh Al-Islam's final units positioned at Hazrama's southern outskirts, forcing them to withdraw to nearby Hawsh Al-Sahliyah after a short battle.

With Jaysh Al-Islam's complete retreat, the Syrian Arab Army's engineering units entered Hazrama and cleared the area of mines and IEDs, declaring the entire town safe by 7:45 P.M. (Damascus Time).

According to a military source, the Syrian Arab Army is now targeting Jaysh Al-Islam's final positions at Nashabiyah after they imposed fire control over this village earlier in the day.
