Russian military hands over 6.8 tonnes of humanitarian cargo to Syrian population


The Russian servicemen have carried out nine humanitarian operations in Syria over the past 24 hours handing over 6.8 tonnes of humanitarian cargo to local residents, the Russian Center for reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria said in its daily bulletin on Saturday.

"The Russian Center for reconciliation of the warring parties carried out nine humanitarian operations in the provinces of Aleppo, Hama and Daraa," the center said. "Over the past 24 hours, 3,950 residents have received humanitarian aid, with a total of 6.8 tonnes of humanitarian cargo handed over to the population."

In the city of Aleppo and in the Ajami populated locality (Aleppo province) residents received 2.2 tonnes of bread, 3,000 portions of hot food and 300 food packages. Another 650 food packages were handed over to residents of the inhabited localities of Salamiya (Hama province) and Habeb (Daraa province).

The Russian military has handed over 300 tonnes of humanitarian cargo to Syria's population since the beginning of this year.

According to the center's bulletin, Russian aircraft have delivered 20.6 tonnes of food received by the Syrian authorities through the UN to the city of Deir ez-Zor area. In addition to that, a humanitarian convoy of 21 refrigerators was dispatched to the populated locality of Mutaiya (Daraa province) with the assistance of the Russian military.
