Syrian Army liberates new points from ISIL in northeast Palmyra

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) resumed their field operations in the northeastern countryside of Homs, Sunday, striking the Islamic State's (ISIL) positions near the strategic Al-Sha'er Gas Fields.

Backed by Russian airstrikes, the Syrian Arab Army's 5th Corps and 18th Tank Division managed to liberate at least two points near the Al-Sha'er Gas Fields, while also killing and wounding scores of Islamic State terrorists.

According to a military source in Palmyra, the Syrian Arab Army liberated points 943 and 1005 in the Al-Sha'er Mountains of Homs.

With these points captured, the Syrian Arab Army will likely make another attempt to clear the Al-Sha'er Gas Fields and its corresponding mountain range in the coming days.
