Iraqi Army liberates 4 villages in southern Mosul
The Iraqi Army's offensive at the key town of Al-Qiyyarah has gotten off to a great start recently, as the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) struggles to maintain their defenses along the main highway from Baghdad to Mosul.
On Sunday, the Iraqi Army and popular committees liberated 4 more villages at the southern flank of Al-Qiyyarah, propelling them to the outskirts of this Islamic State stronghold in the southern Mosul countryside.
According to the Iraqi Ministry of Defense, their forces liberated the villages of Marit, Tal'ah, Bazajilah, and Imam Gharbi after a violent battle with the Islamic State terrorists on early Sunday morning.
As a result of this imperative advance, the Iraqi Armed Forces have increased the total number of liberated villages to 6 after the collapse of the Islamic State's defenses on Sunday.
