China consumer prices up 1.4 pct in 2015

China's consumer prices grew 1.4 percent in 2015 from one year earlier, well below the government's 3-percent target set for the year, official data showed on Saturday.

The increase was also below the 2-percent growth registered in 2014.

Growth in the consumer price index, the main gauge of inflation, increased to 1.6 percent in December from November's 1.5-percent rise.
