China against Obama's meeting with Dalai Lama -- Foreign Ministry

China is against any country leader meeting the Dalai Lama in any manner, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei told a daily news briefing Monday. The White House said US President Barack Obama would attend an event with the Tibetan spiritual leader this week.

"China is opposed to any nation or government using the Tibet issue to interfere in China's domestic affairs, and opposed to any country's leader meeting with the Dalai Lama in any manner," the spokesman said.

The White House said last week that Obama is scheduled to meet the Dalai Lama at the Feb. 5 National Prayer Breakfast in Washington.
