Russia, China readying new ambitious partnership plan -- China vice premier

Russia and China are preparing a new plan of large-scale partnership, planning to approve it in May when Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit Moscow for celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of victory in WWII, Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli said on Tuesday.

"We are confident that by then we can expect from our leadership a new plan for further large-scale cooperation between our countries," to maintain relations at a high level, the vice premier said within the framework of a meeting of co-chairmen of the Russian-Chinese intergovernmental commission for energy cooperation.

"The aim of our visit is to pave the way for Xi Jinping's upcoming visit to Russia," he added, noting that major transformations in the present-day world prompted a need to strengthen bilateral ties.

"This is already a fifth meeting in the past more than two years," the Chinese official said, noting their open and sincere nature. He said each of them had produced major results, helping to strengthen friendship between the two nations.

The Russian delegation to China is led by Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich. Also taking part in the talks are representatives from the Russian Energy Ministry, the Ministry for Economic Development, Transneft oil company, Rosseti energy company, Gazprom Export, Siberian Coal Energy Company, Rusal aluminum producer, RusHydro hydroelectricity company, TGK-2 (company engaged in the production and wholesale of thermal and electric energy), Novatek gas producer, Rosneft and Lukoil oil companies, Russian Railways, the Eastern Energy Company (dealing with electric power export from Russia to China) and the Energy Systems of the East supplier of electricity and heat in the Far East.
