Russia moves partners to further steps to enhance predictability in relations with NATO

Russia consistently moved partners to further steps towards enhancing predictability and trust in relations with NATO and the OSCE (Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe) by expanding experience and information on training and exercises, the Foreign Ministry reported on Thursday.

"During the talks, the foreign and defense ministers of member-countries of the Russia-NATO Council discussed ways to promote the implementation of the Lisbon summit decisions (2010) in order to create a common peace, security and stability space in the Euro-Atlantic region," the report says.

Russia continued cooperation with the Alliance on the Afghan track by changing the format of the NATO operation in Afghanistan when it withdrew the International Security Assistance Force contingent, the report says.

"During the 20th session of the Council of OSCE Foreign Ministers in Kiev on December 5, the ministers coordinated a useful document to develop the Helsinki+40 Process. The decisions taken at the meeting took into account Russia's position on the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, light weapons and small arms," the report says.

"In order to correct errors in the work of the OSCE Russia put forth concrete proposals on its reform," it adds.
