Turkey reportedly closes Bosphorus for Russian warships

On November 30, Russian vessels could not pass through checkpoints at the Bosphorus due to the absence of adequate permissions from Turkey.

According to eyewitnesses, dozens of Russian ships have gathered in the area waiting for the permission to cross the maritime border.

Turkish military submarines accompany warships of the Russian Navy as the latter pass through the Bosphorus and Dardanelles.

In addition, it was said that boats of the Turkish flotilla were following Russia's Yauza as the ship was traveling through the straits, Turkish publication Haberler reports.

It is worthy of note that Ankara has no right to close the Straits unilaterally, with the exception for a military situation.

Earlier, the Turkish authorities discussed this issue with NATO leadership and said the access to the Straits would not be limited. However, it appears that Turkey is acting otherwise.
