Most states won't join Western sanctions 'games,' Foreign Minister Lavrov says

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is certain that the vast majority of world countries will not join the "games" of the collective West, who uses sanctions policy against Russia.

"The vast majority of world states has not joined and, I am certain, will not join the games incited by the West with use of its so-called sanctions policy. And the vast majority of states is interested in development of equal inter-state cooperation, based on key principles, cemented in the UN Charter. First and foremost, the principle of sovereign equality of states," Lavrov said, speaking at the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund meeting Friday.

"Despite all propaganda that juggles numbers of votes in favor of provocative UN resolutions, the vast majority of states beyond the collective West have no desire to play a 'one-goal game.' They are being subjected to colossal pressure," he said.

According to the Minister, despite this pressure, it is necessary to orient oneself not on "provocative propaganda texts," presented by Western states in the US, but to the real state of trade and economic ties.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine. In response, Western states imposed sanctions - both personal and sectoral, covering Russian national debt and banking sector, while many private businesses decided to suspend their operation in Russia or completely withdraw from banking projects and abandon investments in such projects.
