Kiev statements that Russia supplies weapons Sloviansk protesters untrue -- Time

Kiev authorities' statements that Russia is allegedly providing all kind of material support to the protesters in Sloviansk who call for Ukraine's federalization, are not consistent with reality, according to an article published on the website of Time Magazine.

This article was written by the publication's correspondent in Berlin Simon Shuster on the results of his trip to Eastern Ukraine and conversations with the protesters, including the people's mayor of Sloviansk, Vyacheslav Ponomaryov.

"Over the past few days there has been no evident sign that they (the protesters) are receiving material support from Russia," Time writes. "Their foot soldiers have been so short on fuel that they have asked journalists to bring them gasoline in exchange for granting interviews, saying they don't have enough fuel to go on patrols."

"But Kiev's cries of a separatist insurgency fuelled with money, weapons and troops from the Russian government look out of sync with the reality in Sloviansk," the article says.
