Donetsk People's Republic dismisses defense minister

The Council of Ministers of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic on Thursday agreed to dismiss the defense minister, chief of the republic's General Staff, Igor Strelkov, of his own accord. Strelkov is moving to another position. He is to be succeeded by Vladimir Kononov, the DPR's press-centre has said.

"The appointment will be presented to the republic's legislature for approval on Friday," DPR Prime Minister Aleksandr Zakharchenko announced.
