U.S., partners continue airstrikes against IS in Syria, Iraq
U.S. and partner-nation military forces have conducted a total of 11 airstrikes against Islamic State (IS) forces in Syria and Iraq over the past two days, the U.S. Defense Department said on Tuesday.
According to a DOD statement, four airstrikes were conducted in Syria, including three near Kobani and one near Dawr az Zawr, together destroying five IS fighting positions and an IS tank, the statement said.
Meanwhile, the international military forces conducted seven airstrikes in Iraq, destroying five IS tactical units, an IS building, two IS bunkers, three IS heavy machine guns, two IS mortar positions, an IS excavator and an IS fighting position.
Coalition nations conducting airstrikes in Iraq include the U.S. , Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Coalition nations conducting airstrikes in Syria include the U.S., Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
