Russian diplomat calls for further consultations on lists of terrorists in Syria

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov said on Wednesday that further consultations with the members of the International Syria Support Group were needed before lists of terrorists in Syria were compiled.

"We deem it necessary to exchange views with our partners on resumption of negotiations among the Syrian delegations. We are determined to have a constructive exchange of views with our partners in a bid to search for solutions, which could give a kick-start to the intra-Syrian talks," Gatilov wrote in Twitter.

"The list of terrorist organizations needs to be finalized and approved by the International Syria Support Group," the Russian diplomat went on to say.

He also said that contacts with representatives of some groups of the Syrian opposition would take place on January 14.

The Syrian opposition has not formed a delegation to the Geneva talks as of yet but the issue may be settled in the days to come, Haitham Mana'a, a member of the Cairo II committee, told TASS after meeting Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov on Wednesday.

"For the moment, we cannot speak about January 25 or any delegation (of the united Syrian opposition). But we should wait for another 48 hours," Haitham Mana's said.

The intra-Syrian talks are to take place in Geneva on January 25.
