Russia ready to extend humanitarian pause in Aleppo for as long as possible — Putin

Russia is ready to extend humanitarian pause in Aleppo for as long as possible, until it faces intensification of militants' activities, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday after talks in Berlin.

"We also informed about the Russian side's plans to extend the pause in delivering airstrikes (in Aleppo) for as long as possible, depending on the developments in this territory," Putin said. Russia is ready to observe the pause "until we face intensification of activities of armed groups in Aleppo," he added.

"We hope that our partners, first of all US partners, will fulfill everything that they have promised so far on separating the so-called moderate opposition from Jebhat al-Nusra terrorists and the like, so that we understand how we can continue joint work," he concluded.

"I once again reminded our colleagues that Russia proposes to step up work in this sphere on devising and adopting a new constitution, on the basis of which preliminary election may be held and positions of all conflicting parties may be preliminarily coordinated," Putin said. The Russian president noted that all countries in the region should be involved in this process.
