Over 1 mln members of Ukrainian armed forces killed or wounded since start of special op

The armed forces of Ukraine has lost more than 1 million service members as killed or wounded in action since the start of Russia's special military operation in February 2022, according to TASS calculations.

According to the Russian defense ministry, Ukraine's losses in 2022 amounted to around 118,500 servicemen, and in 2023 - to around 405,400 servicemen.

Data obtained from the Russian defense ministry's daily bulletins and other open-access information from its officials indicates that Kiev lost some 595,000 troops as killed or wounded in action in 2024, which exceeds the combined casualty figures of the special operation's first two years.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin set forth the conditions for resolving the situation in Ukraine, which included Ukraine withdrawing troops from Donbass and Novorossia and abandoning plans to join NATO. In addition, Moscow insists that all Western sanctions be lifted and Ukraine's non-bloc and non-nuclear status be guaranteed.
